History
and Facts
The 1982 Chevrolet K-10 was part of the third generation of the C/K series of trucks, which was marketed by Chevrolet and GMC. Here are some facts about the 1982 Chevrolet K-10:
Powertrain
The 1982 K-10 had a new 6.2-liter Detroit Diesel V8 engine that replaced the Oldsmobile 350 diesel. The 6.2-liter diesel was available on 1⁄2-ton, 3⁄4-ton, and 1-ton trucks.
Fuel tank
The fuel tank was moved from the cab to the side of the frame, allowing for a dual fuel tank option.
Safety
The passenger cabin had soft-touch materials on the dashboard, door armrests, steering wheel, and shift levers.
Wheelbase
The wheelbase was 117.5 inches for short-wheelbase trucks and 131.5 inches for longer ones.
Off-road parts
The K-series was available with a variety of off-road parts, including bash plates, tow hooks, and a mild factory lift.
C/K nomenclature
The C/K nomenclature was carried over from the previous generation, with "C" denoting two-wheel drive trucks and "K" denoting four-wheel drive vehicles.
