History
and Facts
Here are some facts about the 1964 Chevrolet Impala:
The 1964 Impala came in various body styles such as 2-door hardtops, convertibles, 4-door sedans, and station wagons. It was the final year of the car's boxy, straight-edge design before transitioning to curved bodies in 1965. The car was constructed using a body-on-frame method, with a solid shell formed by welding together the steel cowl, roof, underbody, and rear quarters. The fenders, hood, doors, and decklid were then bolted on.
The Impala SS model had impressive power, capable of reaching speeds of 140 mph, a notable feat for a 1960s five-seater saloon car. Additionally, 35% of the 536,329 Impala two-door hardtops were Super Sports, with a dedicated production line for this model.
There were several options and accessories available for the 1964 Impala, including power steering, power brakes, a factory tachometer, a padded dash, and deluxe seatbelts.
